What Will You Do in Your 95% Life?

Humans evolved to be survivors. Our ancestors learned early on that they must constantly be on the lookout for danger. And we’re still that way. Think about how cautious you are when you drive. Or when you’re out hiking. You’re always looking for other drivers or something that might trip you up.

So when we think about our day, our default setting is to look at the negative. The person that cut us off, the rude email that hurt our feelings, or even the accident the dog had that caused us to be late for work.

This is normal. But at the end of your life, do you want to feel like life was just one hardship after another?

My guess is no. About 5% of life is weddings and funerals. The really high highs and the really low lows. The other 95% of our life is up for grabs. We get to decide if we’re going to let our primitive brains take over and focus on the negative or if we’re going to let our thriving brains take over.

I know what I’d pick. What about you?
